Our Library
The Gering Public Library is conveniently located next door to City Hall and across the street from the Post Office. The library currently serves over 8,000 customers from the panhandle area. Gering Public Library is a part of the City of Gering. The current building was erected in 1964 with an addition built in 1978. The Library recently received a new look with completely new carpet, paint, and book shelve end caps.  In a constant state of growth, the Gering Library is very pro-active in its service, facility, and equipment.

Our Literary Collection
Our collection includes fiction, non-fiction books, children's section, teen section, large print books, reference books, Nebraska section, city directory, paperback books, books on tape and CDs, magazines & newspapers, consumer information, community information, travel packets, Gering Courier on microfilm (1887- present), filmstrips, videos and DVDs, cake pans, and puppets.

Our Card Catalog Online
As of 1/30/2003 we have our card catalog available for viewing online.  Now you can see if the book you want is in before you make the trip to the Library.

Material Due Dates
Materials may be checked out for two weeks and may be renewed for an additional two weeks unless there is a hold for it. You may renew materials by telephone (436-7433). Magazines, videos, cameras, & cake pans may be checked out for one week.  Magazines cannot be renewed.

Fines
One overdue notice will be sent for overdue materials, and $1 per notice will be charged for all materials returned more than 7 days late if all items are returned at the same time. Borrowing privileges may be temporarily suspended if books are overdue or if materials have been lost and not paid for. Thursdays are "no fine" days. For materials less than 3 months overdue, no fines are assessed if the items are returned inside the library during regular operating hours.
